The Flick
For this unique production, the actors used the theatre house and the booth as their stage. The audience entered through the back stage door, down a constructed movie hallway littered with out dated posters, past the concession stand (manned by myself in matching theatre employee costume), and took their seats under the proscenium. I was the properties designer, scenic charge artist, concessions & house manager. I worked with the carpentar the build a 35mm film projector with removable film reels. The entrance hallway was deliberately shabby, and I painted the stage floor to match the carpet in the auditorium. The college graphics department printed my concession sign which I prompltly and happily distressed. Janitorial staff allowed us to use their trash bin and brooms. I designed and printed the book cover at home, adhereing it to an old paperback from props storage.
