The Foreigner

Easily one of my favorite sets to paint! Lots of wood graining, rag rolling, sponging, and staining. Our carpenter cut strips of scrap luan and masonite to create the wainscotting, so I played with different wood grain palettes to maintain that variety.  The wallpaper border was printed by the graphics department and pasted to the wall with watered down mod podge.  Large carpet tubes were cut in half, textured and painted for chink logs on the exterior down stage.

The Meeks Lodge sign was a thrift store find that I stripped down and repainted.  The portable bomb was made entirely out of random scraps found under my props table and mounted it in a small valet case. I dyed cotton twine red and twisted it with found black wire to make a long spool to connect to the plunger.

I did not paint the fireplace: Scenic Designer Stephanie Baugher took on that project in her usual amazing way.
