Stitching a table runner in the dark, finding just the right vintage makeup case, loads of liqour bottles and smoking paraphanlia, stocking up on cheesecakes left mostly uneaten, and lucking upon just the right record player for a collection of 45’s. Actors put makeup on during scenes, which meant finding mirrors that would not catch the stage light or block the actor while still actually being useful. I worked closely with the scenic designer to fill out the set with dresses, undergarments, scarves and jewelery hanging from every possible place. I became fascinated recreating the Transvestia magazine and probably spent too much time getting the cover just right for it’s brief stage appearance. I only wish I had more photos…
